Leipzig’s history dates back to at least A.D. 1015 when first mentioned by Bishop Thietmar of Merseburg. In medieval times it was a very important trade centre as it was situated at the intersection of two important medieval trade routes: Via Regia and Via Imperii. Today it has a population of over half a million inhabitants and lots of interesting monuments to offer to its visitors. Let us show you the best of them during our day tour from Berlin. You will hear the stories about Mercury and Apollo – patrons of Leipzig and visit Market Place with Old Town Hall. You will see the Barthels Hof – the oldest shopping arcade in Leipzig, Bach Monument in St. Thomas church, Goethe Memorial on Naschmarkt, shopping arcades of Madler Passage, St Nicholas Church, Gewandhaus concert hall, Opera and many many more attractions.
